- Suspended luminaire with five aluminum reflectors
Verner Panton's VP Globe radiates futurism like no other light. Designed in 1969, the year the moon first landed, the lamp represents a new world belief in technology and the future. In this atmosphere of departure, inspired by the thought of a new era, Verner Panton designed the VP Globe.
Controllability, clarity and color are the main features of the VP Globe. An acrylic glass ball acts like an air bubble from which light emerges. In the sphere, a total of five reflectors are suspended on three steel threads. They surround a centrally placed light source.
In this way, the VP Globe not only provides a soft, pleasant and balanced lighting in the room, but also shows Verner Panton's sense of technical aspects, materials and the interplay of possibilities in a unique way.
“Color planning is crucial in designing an environment. It is not enough to say that red is red and blue is blue. Basically, I work with the colors of a color spectrum in parallel, and wonder how they follow each other in that spectrum. This allows me to control the warm or cold nature of the room and create the desired mood, ”says Verner Panton about the interplay of colors in design.
Although playing with color temperature and bright colors is no longer uncommon in today's world and with modern lighting systems, the VP Globe pendant lamp uniquely illustrates the mechanical and optical interplay of light, colors and moods in a room. In addition, the classic luminaire enriches any environment with a clear acrylic lampshade and technically cool aluminum reflectors and is a real eye-catcher.
